On August 23, the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand gave the green light for the Covid-19 vaccine for kids between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old.
Pfizer BioNTech’s mRNA vaccine will be administered in three 0.3-microgram doses to children between the ages outlined. The suggested interval between the 1st and 2nd dose is 3 weeks and the 3rd dose should be 8 weeks after the second dose.
This decision came after a vaccine campaign for children ages 5-11 was given the green light and a booster dose of the Covid vaccine was approved for kids aged 12 and above.
Preliminary clinical trial data reported in May showed that Pfizer and BioNTech’s three-dose Covid vaccination for children 6 months to 5 years old was 80% effective at avoiding illness during the omicron wave.
