Apple is exploring partnerships with Google, as according to Bloomberg, both companies were in active negotiations to settle a deal for Gemini, Google’s generative artificial intelligence tools.
The report stated that Apple aimed to license and implement the Gemini AI engine into the iPhone to power new features in the next major update, iOS 18.
Apple CEO Tim Cook stated during the company’s annual shareholder meeting in February that Apple saw a value in AI and was investing significantly in the technology, indicating that the company would potentially share more details for the update and its plan for generative AI during its Worldwide Developers Conference coming this June.
However, the deal between the two tech giants may not reach a definitive end, as the iPhone maker also held talks with Microsoft for OpenAI, according to the sources cited by Bloomberg.
