A recent update from CrowdStrike has resulted in the crashing of computers running Microsoft-based Windows, leading to the infamous blue screen of death. Companies across various industries worldwide have faced challenges in rebooting their systems due to this issue.
CrowdStrike, an American cybersecurity technology company known for its cloud workload protection, threat intelligence, and cyberattack response services, clarified that the widespread outage was not a result of a cyber attack. Rather, it was attributed to a software glitch that has been identified, and a solution has already been deployed.
The impact of this IT disruption has been felt globally, with reports of outages emerging from various countries, including incidents at Berlin Airport in Germany, the London Stock Exchange, Google Cloud, Microsoft, Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom, as well as airports and airlines in Thailand, resulting in delays across multiple departments.
While the Department of Justice saw some computers being affected by the outage, there have been no reports suggesting that law enforcement operations have been compromised. A source informed ABC News that the Department of Justice Office of the Chief Information Officer described the issue as “significant,” with no estimated time for full restoration mentioned.
