Thailand’s SET Index Pares Losses as Confidence Returns after Cabinet Endorsement

Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning session near the flat line after the announcement of Thai King’s endorsement on the new cabinet pared loss in the earlier trading session on Wednesday.

SET Index plunged as much as 0.68% in an early trading session but started to pare loss as session progress, especially after around 11:00 that the official report announced that the Thai King has endorsed Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s cabinet.

The index briefly surged above the flat line afterward, but closed the morning session slightly lower by 0.09% due to the negative sentiment in the global market after the disappointment of US manufacturing data.

Still, the market is focusing on the announcement of policy plans, tentatively to be on September 11. Investors will look for signals from the Thai government to build confidence in the economy that would impact equity space.
