The surge in Thai leasing stocks can be largely attributed to the US Federal Reserve’s announcement of a 50-basis-point reduction in its interest rates. This rate cut aligns with the prior forecast made by the CME FedWatch Tool, which indicated a 63% likelihood of the central bank reducing rates by 0.5 percentage points.

Based on the Fed Dot Plot, a majority of 10 out of 19 policymakers opted for a decrease in interest rates by a minimum of 50 basis points during the final two meetings of 2024. Additionally, the central bank hinted at a cumulative reduction of 1 percentage point in 2025 and 0.5 percentage point in 2026. In summary, the Dot Plot forecasts a total 2 percentage point decrease in interest rates by the US Federal Reserve following the recent cuts.

Analysts predicted that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) would lower its policy rates by 0.25 percentage points by the end of the year, a move expected to provide a substantial stimulus for the Thai economy.
