SISB Draws Additional Chinese Students with New Business Model in Sight

SISB anticipated a stream of Chinese students applying for SISB Rayong after a visit from an agency sparking interest, with a possibility of partnering with Malaysian English schools for a branch in Thailand, and a plan to expand a new school brand with cheaper tuition. The CEO expects 4,600 students at the end of this year.

Mr. Yew Hock Koh, CEO of SISB Public Company Limited (SET: SISB), revealed to “Kaohoon” that the company may accept more Chinese students into Singapore International School Rayong Campus (SISB Rayong). A Chinese agency showed great interest during a visit to SISB Rayong, praising the city for being rather peaceful and good for education while having decent infrastructure. The initiation could be as soon as next semester or next academic year at the latest (2025/2026).

The plan will include a deal with Malaysian English schools to expand within SISB and accommodate both Chinese and other international students by establishing a branch within the existing school first and possibly building a new academy outside the school.

The expansion under a new brand is to expand its segment at half the tuition of the existing brand. Still, the plan requires further discussion.

SISB’s goal for the next three years (2024-2026) as Thailand’s number one international school is to expand the number of students in their ecosystem to 400 students per year or 4,600, 5,000, and 5,400 students, respectively, from either six existing schools or possibly a newly built school. There are 4,580 students in SISB schools at the time of August 2024.
