On 8 October 2024 the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 2647/QD-BCT (“Decision 2647”) with immediate effect.
Decision 2647 prescribes the price tariff ceiling for electricity imported from Laos to Vietnam for hydropower and wind power plants which reach commercial operation between 31 December 2025 and 31 December 2030 as:
- 6.78 US cents/kWh for hydropower; and
- 6.4 US cents/kWh for wind power.
