The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is set to address the topic of covering the Operation and Maintenance fee of the Extended Green Line for BTS during this week’s meeting, amounting to approximately THB 14.55 billion.
The BMA confronts a legal challenge following the Administrative Court of Thailand’s rejection of Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt’s appeal to review the directive mandating payment of arrears to BTS Group Holdings’ subsidiary, Bangkok Transit System Corporation Ltd. (BTSC).
In line with sources close to the matter, it is anticipated that the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority will clear the dues by December, meeting the court-ordered deadline of 22 January 2025.
This is all while incurring a 7% annual interest charge on the outstanding sum, equating to over 2 million baht daily or 1,000 million baht annually, as highlighted by BTS Director, Mr. Surapong Laoha-Unya.
