Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the Board of Investment (BOI), revealed the outcome of BOI’s first meeting of 2025, chaired by Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. He stated that the BOI has approved three major investment promotion projects with a total investment exceeding THB170 billion, including two large-scale digital infrastructure projects.
The first project is a Data Hosting project by a subsidiary of TikTok Pte. Ltd., a provider of a popular video content platform. The subsidiary will invest in installing servers and various equipment in high-performance data centers to support large-scale data processing in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Chachoengsao, with a total investment value of 126.79 billion baht.
Another project involves the AI Cloud Service business of Siam AI Corporation Co., Ltd., the first Thai company to be selected as an NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP). The project will be located in Chonburi and Pathum Thani, with a total investment of THB3.25 billion.
Additionally, the BOI also approved an investment project for the production of potassium chloride, a key raw material used in fertilizer manufacturing. This project, led by Asia Pacific Potash Corporation Co., Ltd., will be based in Udon Thani and involve a total investment of THB40.4 billion.
Mr. Narit also stated that last year, Thailand attracted significant investment in the digital industry, particularly in key infrastructure sectors like Data Center and Cloud Service, with leading companies from the US, China, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Australia, and Thailand. A total of 16 projects were approved, with a combined investment of over THB240 billion, making the digital industry the top sector in terms of investment.
For this year, he expects that world-leading companies will continue to invest in Thailand to meet the rising demand for digital technology in both Thailand and the ASEAN region, driven in particular by the rapid growth of AI, as well as Big Data storage and processing. The investment in these two projects marks another crucial step in advancing Thailand toward becoming the digital hub of the region.
