Yunlin Wind Farm Completes Full Operation with 640 MW Capacity

Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group (SET: EGCO) is excited to announce a major milestone that the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) in Taiwan successfully completed the full operation of all 80 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with the total capacity of 640 MW. This achievement marks the Yunlin OWF being one of Taiwan’s largest offshore wind farms, powering over 600,000 Taiwanese homes annually and helping reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1.2 million tons per year. The Yunlin OWF is able to fully generate revenue for EGCO Group throughout 2025, marking the first full year of revenue recognition. In addition, it will generate a constant cash flow, aligned with EGCO Group’s business strategy entitled “Triple P” on profitability and performance energizing, which aims to drive sustainable growth while positioning EGCO Group as a low-carbon organization.

Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, President of EGCO Group, said, “We are delighted that the Yunlin OWF has successfully generated electricity at its full capacity of 640 MW. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all valued partners in the project, as well as all senior lenders, stakeholders, along with the Taiwanese government who has a crucial role in this achievement. The achievement marks a major step forward in Taiwan’s offshore wind farm and the country’s transition to renewable energy in the future. Moreover, this supports EGCO Group to achieve  a short-term goal by 2030 in increasing renewable energy capacity up to 30% of total power capacity, as well as fulfils EGCO Group’s business strategy that addresses sustainable growth across all dimensions by balancing business opportunities, profitability, and our low-carbon organizational targets”.

EGCO Group owns 26.56% stakes in the Yunlin OWF, which is the company’s first offshore wind farm. Following the Yunlin OWF’s full operation, EGCO Group has an additional renewable energy capacity around 170 MW equity. Moreover, the Yunlin OWF will generate a constant cash flow for EGCO Group with approximately THB 2,000 million per year for the first 5 years of its full operation.

As one of Taiwan’s largest offshore wind farms, the Yunlin OWF generates enough clean energy to power over 600,000 Taiwanese homes annually. With a capacity of 2,400 Gigawatt hours (GWh), and meeting 90% of Yunlin County’s non-industrial electricity needs, the Yunlin OWF will also reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1.2 million tons per year.

The Yunlin OWF consists of 80 WTGs, each with a capacity of 8 MW, and the total capacity of 640 MW. It is located in the Taiwan Strait, between 8 and 17 km off the west coast of Taiwan, at water depths from 7 up to 35 m., and covers an overall area of 82 km². It delivers electricity under a long-term 20-year power purchase agreement with Taipower (Taiwan Power Company).
