Despite the Philadelphia Eagles’ dominating performance in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, viewing numbers reached unprecedented levels. Fox Sports reported that an average of 126 million spectators tuned in across multiple platforms, including Fox, Fox Deportes, Tubi, Telemundo, and various NFL digital outlets, marking a new milestone in Super Bowl viewership.
The audience peaked in the second quarter, with 135.7 million viewers captivated from 8 to 8:15 p.m. ET when the match was still competitive. This reflects the enduring allure of the Super Bowl, which remains the most-watched event on American television each year.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Adam Sandler, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper, Kevin Hart, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Lionel Messi as well as the new U.S. President Donald Trump was among thousands of fans inside the Caesars Superdome last Sunday.
In a significant win for the NFL’s shift towards digital and streaming mediums, Super Bowl LIX achieved a historic streaming viewership, drawing 14.5 million digital viewers. Notably, Tubi accounted for a substantial portion of this figure, with 13.6 million viewers.
While overall TV ratings for the NFL saw a 2% decline this season, pro football continues to dominate America’s television landscape.
