Russia and Ukraine Sign Truce Agreement on Black Sea and Energy Facilities

The US has successfully formed agreements between Ukraine and Russia, marking a major step toward peace talks that could end the war between the two nations, which has been ongoing for more than three years.

According to the agreements, reached in Saudi Arabia, Russia and Ukraine will ensure safety of commercial shipping over the Black Sea and end their attacks on each other’s energy facilities. Both sides also require the US to enforce the deals.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that if Russia violates the agreements, Ukraine will ask the US to sanction Russia and provide weapons to Kyiv.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov also added that Ukraine will defend themself if they find Russian military vessels making any movement outside Black Sea’s eastern part, an act they consider as a violation and a threat.

In addition to the agreement, the US also promised to help Russia, the world’s top wheat and fertiliser exporter, re-entry into global agricultural and fertilizer export markets. This season, Russia plans to export around 40 million tons of wheat to the global markets.
