Car exports from Thailand expanded 10.17% annually in December to 111,605 units, bringing the full-year total to 1,000,256 units, an increase of 4.28% from the previous year basis, data showed on Tuesday, the same level recorded prior to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Surapong Paisitpattanapong, vice president and spokesperson for the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), stated that higher-than-expected auto exports last year were primarily due to a lessening in chip shortages, and that FTI expects car production to reach 1.95 million units in 2023, up 3.53% from the previous year, with 1.05 million units for exports and 900,000 for domestic sales.
