Hong Kong will be giving away 500,000 airline tickets starting March 1, 2023 to spur its reopening from the pandemic.
The tickets will be distributed by the city’s flagship airlines – Cathay Pacific and its budget unit HK Express, as well as Hong Kong Airlines.
Thailand will be the first country to receive these free tickets, starting on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, for a total of 17,400 roundup-trip tickets.
The handouts will expand to Singapore and the Philippines later this week for a total of 80,000 tickets in March.
Chief Executive John Lee announced earlier that Hong Kong’s mask mandate for indoor and outdoor will be lifted on March 1, marking the end of the financial hub’s final major Covid restriction for roughly three years as it strives to emerge from the pandemic.
