Thailand’s exports fell 7.6% from a year ago in April, resulting in a trade deficit of US$1,471 million, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed on Tuesday.
Mr. Keerati Rushchano, permanent secretary at the commerce ministry, reported that in April, exports from Thailand slowed to US$21,723 million, down 7.6% year over year, while imports fell 7.3% to US$23,195 million.
The recent export figures were more than expectations.
Thailand recorded a trade deficit of US$4,516 million during the first four months of the year (January–April), with total exports amounting to US$92,003 million, down 5.2% from the same time last year, and imports falling 2.2% to US$96,519 million.
