Since the start of Israel’s war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Airlines bookings have felt a drop in their business. Either the prior period before the war began or especially after, international flight bookings were affected in a poor manner.
According to CNBC’s report, the terrorist attack had killed 1,200 people and taken roughly 240 hostages. Israel’s aerial bombing campaign and subsequent ground offensive in Gaza has killed more than 11,000 people.
According to ForwardKeys data reported by CNBC, ticket issuance from the Middle East was 3% below 2019 levels in the three weeks prior to the start of the war. However, in the three weeks after the war began, ticket issuance from the Middle East was 12% lower than 2019 levels. This shows how Israel’s war against Hamas has affected the airline’s bookings.
The bigger case would be flight ticket issuance from America that showed a 6% increase from 2019 levels in the three weeks before the attack. In contrast, it fell to 4% below the 2019 levels in the three weeks after the attack. This showed a 10 percentage points swing in ticket issuance before and after the war outbreak.
Still, apart from bad effects that the war had on international flight bookings, Emirates Airline was optimistic about the demand in the future, backed by robust booking, while the Asian market remained strong.
