- Suvarnabhumi Airport Maintains Normal Operations Despite Global IT System Outage; Only 3 Airlines Switch to Manual Check-in
Mr. Kittipong Kittikachorn, General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport, revealed that following the worldwide outage of Microsoft’s operating system, which affected airline and airport services in many countries starting from approximately 2:00 PM Thailand time on July 19, 2024, Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) has thoroughly inspected its systems and found no impact from the incident. Currently at 07.00 PM local time, three airlines are experiencing issues with their check-in systems: Thai AirAsia X, Scoot, and IndiGo. These airlines have switched to manual check-in procedures.
The situation has resulted in a large number of passengers queuing for check-in. In response, BKK has mobilized staff to assist and facilitate passengers at the affected airlines’ check-in counters. Additional check-in counters have been opened for the affected airlines to increase passenger service capacity. The airport is also coordinating with relevant agencies to efficiently manage the situation.
BKK requests passengers to arrive at the airport earlier than usual, allowing at least 4 hours before their flight departure time. For additional information about services at BKK, passengers can contact the AOT Contact Center at 1722, available 24 hours a day.
