The 3.75 trillion baht ($107.17 billion) national budget for the 2025 fiscal year will not face delays, according to the caretaker of Thailand’s Deputy Finance Minister on Thursday, a day after the dismissal of former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin by the court.
Julapun Amornvivat stated to reporters that the budget is currently in the parliamentary process, allowing it to advance without interruptions. The budget bill, scheduled for the fiscal year beginning on October 1, had already cleared its initial parliamentary vote in June, with several more votes required for final enactment.
The bill is yet to undergo second and third readings in the lower house before proceeding to the Senate and eventually obtaining royal approval. The dismissal of the prime minister does not impede the budget’s progression through the legislative phases.
