Vietnam Expects to Cancel 330 Flights as Super Typhoon Yagi Approaches

Vietnam is set to cancel over 330 flights on Saturday, comprising 240 domestic and 70 international flights, due to the approaching super typhoon Yagi, according to reports from the local media.

The country will also cease operations at four airports, namely Noi Bai in the capital Hanoi, Van Don in Quang Ninh, Cat Bi in Hai Phong, and Tho Xuan in Thanh Hoa, for specific hours on Saturday.

In preparation for the typhoon’s impact in the northern regions, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, ten areas are expected to close schools on Saturday, affecting approximately 5.6 million students. Vietnam has mobilized 457,460 military personnel and over 10,100 vehicles to address the super typhoon.

Yagi is predicted to hit Vietnam’s northern coast on Saturday, bringing heavy rainfall of up to 400 mm.
