On December 21, Mr Keerati Kitimanawat, Chief Executive Officer of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (SET: AOT) and other Don Mueang Airport (DMK) executives inspected the preparations for facilitating and providing safety to accommodate passengers traveling during the 2025 New Year festival at DMK.
Mr. Keerati stated that DMK is ready to support the government’s policy of positioning Thailand as a regional aviation and tourism hub while transforming DMK into a point-to-point airport offering convenience, speed, and comprehensive services and boosting its capacity to accommodate more passengers. The government’s measures to stimulate tourism and the aviation industry have significantly increased travel demand among passengers and tourists.
During the New Year 2025 holiday season, spanning December 27, 2024, to January 2, 2025, DMK is projected to handle 4,671 flights, averaging 668 flights per day. This is a 13.32% increase compared to the same period last year and accounts for 88.62% to pre-COVID-19 levels. Of these, 1,980 flights will be international (arrivals and departures), while 2,691 flights will be domestic (arrivals and departures).
As for the passenger traffic during this period, it is expected to reach 717,002, averaging 102,429 passengers per day. This represents a 19.96% increase from the same period last year and an 85.84% recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels. Among these passengers, 313,447 are projected to be international travelers, with 403,555 being domestic travelers.
At the same time, DMK is fully prepared to enhance its capacity to accommodate passengers and tourists efficiently, safely, and conveniently. This enhancement includes a modern facilitation system, such as the Automated Biometric Identification System (Biometric), provided by Sky ICT Public Company Limited (SET: SKY), which uses facial recognition to identify passengers. This system offers a more convenient, faster experience and reduces waiting times at various service points, such as the check-in counters in the passenger terminal.
