Thailand’s Airports Ready for Tourist Surge during Chinese New Year

Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit said Airports of Thailand (SET: AOT)’s six international airports—Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Chiang Rai—anticipate welcoming about 4.03 million passengers during Chinese New Year celebrations from 24 January to 2 February 2025.

To deal with the expected higher arrivals, the minister ordered AOT and other related agencies to enhance the service quality and security. Various measures will be implemented, such as arranging more personnel and providing resting areas for passengers, as well as using the automated biometric identification system for a faster check-in process. The airports will also strictly comply with the Safety Management System, which includes evaluating the risk from birds and other animals within the airside area.

During rush hours, passengers are also recommended to arrive at the airport two or three hours in advance.
