On Thursday, the Thai Chamber of Commerce raised concerns about potential U.S. trade policy on Thailand. The chamber said that the nation’s private sector would like to propose measures to address such concerns to the government.
Sanan Angubolkul, chairman of the chamber, told a press conference that the organization urged the government to establish a special unit and a “War Room” to address trade imbalance with the U.S.
The commerce chamber advised the government to act fast, as the United State is Thailand’s biggest export market, suggesting importing more U.S. goods such as energy and aircraft.
The group also requested an exchange rate management, as they suspect other countries may use currency strategies to manipulate trade deficits.
Furthermore, the chamber advocates for stricter import control measures to curb unfair competition and prevent the flooding of foreign products.
