China Calls for Respectful Talks and Warns of Standoff If US Tariffs Increase

The Ministry of Commerce in China has strongly condemned the United States’ intention to heighten tariffs on Chinese imports, describing it as a “mistake on top of a mistake” that reveals the coercive strategy of the U.S., something China staunchly opposes.

The ministry has called on the United States to engage in respectful and equal dialogue to resolve differences effectively. Nevertheless, the ministry also indicated that if the U.S. persists in its current unilateral approach, China is prepared to stand firm and confront the situation to the end.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump is threatening China with a new 50% tariffs on top of the already existing 64% that was imposed so far this year unless Beijing terminates its retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods by tomorrow.
