Star Petroleum Refining Public Company Limited (SET: SPRC) has made a report of an oil spill incident at the offshore Single Point Mooring (SPM) located approximately 20 km southeast of Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in the Gulf of Thailand. The incident occurred on 25 January 2022 at approximately 21.06 hrs. and the leakage is currently under control. The spill on water is currently estimated as 20 tons.
SPRC stated that the company has informed and received support from Royal Thai Navy, Environmental Monitoring and Control Center (EMCC), Emergency Incident Command Center (EIC), Oil Industry Environmental Safety Group Association (IESG), Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), the fishery groups in the adjacent area and Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center of this incident.
In addition, the company received good support from relevant government agencies and private sectors, including the manpower, working boats and dispersant supply to support the operation until completely cleaning the oil from sea surface.
For the refinery side, the company continues to operate per plan and expect no material financial impact and there have been no reports of any injuries resulting from the incident. The company has insurance coverage under property damage and business interruption, marine cargo, and third party liability.
