OR reported a net profit of THB 11,474 million in 2021, increased 30.52% from a net profit of THB 8,791 million in 2020. This was due to the hike in both sales revenue and EBITDA in the amount of THB 82,995 million (+19.4%) and THB 2,716 million (+15.4%), respectively.
The overall performance of Mobility Business improved owing to higher average gross profit per liter, despite sales volume of petroleum products having declined by 5.1%. The Lifestyle Business retreated slightly, mainly from the tightened measures to control COVID-19 and the measures to help our Cafe Amazon franchisees as mentioned and from higher advertising and promotional expenses. Under the Lifestyle Business, Cafe Amazon total cups sold of 87 million cups, an increase of 19 million cups (+27.9%) compared to 3Q/21, primarily from the easing of COVID-19 control measures and the high season during the new year. For the year 2021, the total cup sold increase of 24 million cups sold (+8.8%), higher than in 2020.
The Global Business took pressure from greater severity of COVID-19 outbreaks abroad in Cambodia and Laos. Consequently, the sale volume and average gross profit of the global business declined. However, loss from derivatives declined by THB 867 million from the same period last year, attributable to the high degree of loss from commodity derivatives, especially in aviation fuel due to the first wave of COVID-19. In addition, in 2020, there was also a downward adjustment of allowance of expected credit loss for Thai Airways Public Company Limited and Thai Smile Airways Company Limited as a result of their rehabilitation plan with the Central Bankruptcy Court in Thailand.
In addition, the Board of Directors approved a dividend payment of THB0.19 to be paid on 28 April 2022. The ex-dividend date is 28 February 2022.
