Thailand’s auto exports rose 5.33 percent to 55,696 units in April, the first increase since the beginning of the year, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) reported on Monday.
This was due to an increase in pickup truck shipments to the majority of global markets, including Asia, the Middle East, North America, and South America. The overall value of exports was THB33,480,95 million, an increase of 11.34 percent from April 2021.
However, exports decreased by 40.65 percent from March 2022.
According to FTI Automobile Club Vice-Chairman and Spokesman Surapong Paisitpatanapong, despite a scarcity of semiconductors, the automotive industry’s stats in April have risen across the board, including production, domestic sales, and exports.
Meanwhile, domestic car sales jumped 9.11 percent in April to 63,427 units, owing to the lifting of Covid lockdowns and the return of the Bangkok International Motor Show.
