Thai Central Bank Sees No Surge in Bad Loans

Thai banks’ non-performing loans stood at 2.73% of total lending at the end of December 2022, a decrease from 2.77% at the end of the third quarter ending September 2022, supported by debt restructuring of the banking sector, according to the Bank of Thailand on Monday.

The banking system remained strong with high levels of capital, loan-loss provisions and liquidity, the central bank said in a statement. Meanwhile, loans grew 2.1% in 2022.

The Bank of Thailand noted that it sees no surge in bad loans and Thai banks remain strong.
