Stock markets in Asia traded higher on Friday, following a strong finish in Wall Street last night as data showed signs of inflation slowing down in March.
As of 9:18 BKK time on Friday, Nikkei rose 1.02%, Shanghai Composite gained 0.21%, Hang Seng Index increased 0.57%, Kospi hiked 0.26% and IDX Composite edged 0.64% higher.
Thailand’s SET Index closed for holiday and will be open on Monday.
Last night, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 383.19 points or 1.14% to close at 34,029.69. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 gained 1.33% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite increased 1.99%.
The latest data of the U.S. Producer Price Index for March underlined that inflation continued to ease and at a faster pace than expected. The March producer price fell 0.5% month over month, compared to a flat line expected by economists. Meanwhile, the consumer price index also slowed to 5.0% in March, from 6.0% in February and 5.2% expected by economists.
