The Board of Governors (BoG) of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in its meeting today resolved to elect Pichai Chunhavajira as the 18th Chairperson of the Board to succeed Prasarn Trairatvorakul who completed his term, and also resolved to elect Pichet Sithi-Amnuai as Vice Chairperson for another term. Both of them will have a three-year tenure, with effect from February 5, 2024.
Pichai graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from Thammasat University, and earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also received an honorary doctorate degree in Accounting from Thammasat University, an honorary doctorate degree in Financial Management from Mahasarakham University, and an honorary doctorate degree in Financial Management from Sripatum University.
For his professional background, he held many prominent positions such as the Board Member of the Bank of Thailand and the President of the Federation of Accounting Professions under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King. Pichai currently secures a number of key positions in various corporations and national organizations, including Chairman of Bangchak Corporation pcl, an advisor to the Prime Minister, and an advisor to the Board of Investment of Thailand.
Concerning Vice Chairperson, Pichet earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Chulalongkorn University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He has extensive experience in the capital market sector and is Vice Chairperson of the SET BoG. At present, he serves as President of Bualuang Securities pcl and holds several key positions in the capital market, including Vice Chairperson of the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations and Chairperson of the Association of Thai Securities Companies.
The incumbent SET’s BoG consists of 11 governors: Pichai as Chairperson, Pichet as Vice Chairperson, and the remaining 9 governors are Kitipong Urapeepatanapong, Kittipong Kittayarak, Komkrit Kietduriyakul, Rawin Boonyanusasna, Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, Supachoke Supabundit, Thiti Tantikulanan, M.L. Thongmakut Thongyai, and Pakorn Peetathawatchai as President and a governor.
