Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,317.14 points, decreased 7.62 points or 0.58% with a trading value of 37.79 billion baht. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market decreased and was in line with the foreign markets. There were speculative-sales of stocks in the market, following the signal for the US Federal Reserve rate cuts.

Domestically, the announcement of 2Q24 earnings among bank stocks showed a mixed performance, meeting expectations for some but slightly falling short for others. Power plant stocks also played an important role for the decrease, following the report for the potential peg in electricity rates.

The analyst expected the market to trade sideways next week, while investors awaited the announcement of 2Q24 earnings from listed companies.

 

Former House speaker Nancy Pelosi has reportedly indicated to some House Democrats her belief that President Biden should consider stepping away from the presidential race soon due to concerns about his chances in November.

On Thursday, Microsoft indicated that the outage affected Azure services in the Central U.S. region, with subsequent disruptions to various Microsoft 365 apps and services. Although Microsoft has largely recovered the affected services, some customers may still face residual issues in the region.

American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines enforced ground stops on Friday morning citing communication problems, shortly after Microsoft resolved a cloud services outage that affected several carriers, such as Frontier Airlines, Allegiant, and SunCountry.

The outage has had a ripple effect, impacting banks, IT firms, and airlines throughout the morning on Friday.
