Minor International Public Company Limited (MINT) is proud to announce a significant milestone in its hotel expansion strategy with its debut in Singapore, one of the world’s busiest and most vibrant cities, and a key gateway to Asia. This landmark move is part of a new partnership with Kajima Development Pte. Ltd. (Kajima) and an Abu Dhabi-based partner, Alwathba Investment LLC (Alwathba) to develop and construct a lifestyle hotel in the heart of Singapore, adjacent to the Central Business District (CBD) and Chinatown.
This strategic entry is facilitated by the collaboration between MINT, Kajima and Alwathba, who have been long-standing partners in various projects in Thailand and abroad. Upon completion of the transaction, the hotel will be co-owned by Kajima (50%), MINT (25%) and Alwathba (25%).
The project marks MINT’s debut in Singapore’s hospitality sector, with plans to develop a 13-storey hotel comprising 200 keys at 24 Peck Seah Street near Tanjong Pagar MRT, a prime area in the city. The hotel will be branded as “Avani,” marking the brand’s first presence in Singapore. With a planned opening in Q1 2027, the Avani hotel will establish the brand in this key gateway city, frequented by millions of world travelers. This venture is a crucial step in MINT’s broader strategy to expand its presence across major global gateway cities.
MINT’s investment in the project will be approximately USD 19 million. The project is expected to deliver an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) in the mid-teens, highlighting the steady income and cash flows anticipation, along with the significant potential for asset value appreciation.
“Avani Singapore represents a strategic market entry for Minor Hotels, and we are honoured to have our partners Kajima and Alwathba alongside us as we venture into Singapore’s hospitality sector,” commented Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels. “Their industry expertise and market knowledge will ensure the delivery of an exceptional hotel experience, creating a vibrant base for business and leisure travellers.”
Mr. Shuichi Oishi, CEO of Kajima Development Pte. Ltd., said, “We are delighted to advance our partnership with MINT and introduce the Avani brand to Singapore. By combining Kajima’s established presence in Singapore with MINT’s expertise in brand and hospitality, as well as its global network, we are confident this project will set new benchmarks in the hospitality sector.”
Mohamed Saif Ghanem Saif Alsuwaidi, Managing Director of Alwathba, commented, “We have strong confidence in MINT’s ability to deliver exceptional performance and returns. We are proud to support this venture in Singapore, which highlights our commitment to fostering international development and further strengthens our strategic global partnerships.”
With this expansion, MINT will now have both hotel and restaurant operations in Singapore, building on the previous success of its restaurant business, which has grown to nearly 100 outlets across the city. This dual presence further solidifies MINT’s commitment to the Singaporean market and underscores the company’s ability to deliver exceptional experiences across both hospitality and dining sectors.
