Lack of Blockbuster Movies Drive MAJOR’s 3Q24 Earnings Down 52%

MAJOR reported a net profit in 3Q24 of Baht 50.33 million, a decrease of Baht 54.05 million or 52% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The company had revenue from sales and services amounting to THB 1,660 million in Q3/2024, compared to THB 1,741 million in the same period last year, representing a decrease of THB 81 million, or 5%. The main reason for this decrease was the lower number of popularity of Hollywood movies in Q3/2024 compared to the previous year, impact to reduced revenue from the cinema and advertising businesses.

While the revenue from bowling and karaoke businesses increased due to more tournaments being organized, and revenue from Rental and Service business grew as the Sukhumvit branch had more shops opening since August 2023 after a renovation.

The company had a total cost of sales and services of THB 1,081 million in Q3/2024, compared to THB 1,236 million in the same period last year, a decrease of THB 155 million, or 13%. This reduction was a result of effective cost control, which lowered the cost-to-revenue ratio from 71% to 65%.
