Tesla has announced a recall of 2,400 Cybertrucks in the U.S. due to faulty parts that could increase the risk of accidents, marking the sixth recall for the model this year.
The defect, identified in the drive inverter of Cybertrucks manufactured before July 30, could result in a loss of torque when the accelerator pedal is pressed. While five warranty claims have been filed regarding this issue, no crashes or injuries have been reported.
Starting December 9, Tesla will replace all affected drive inverters with updated components manufactured after July 30. However, it isn’t the first time Tesla recalled its Blade Runner-inspired truck.
In April, Tesla issued a recall for a loose accelerator pedal pad, followed by another in June due to issues with windshield wipers and exterior trim. Just last month, Tesla recalled 27,000 trucks after discovering a delay in rear-view camera images that could impair driver visibility.
Cybertruck was intended to help re-energize Tesla’s lineup amid slowing EV demand, but the model has already faced a two-year delay due to production and battery supply challenges. Despite its public release in 2023, Tesla has not disclosed specific production or delivery numbers for the vehicle.
