BEC World to Lay Off 30% of Workforce as Part of Cost-Cutting Restructuring Program

BEC World Public Company Limited (SET: BEC) plans to reduce expenses and cut its workforce by 30 percent across all levels as part of its restructuring efforts, said the source close to the matter.

According to the latest report at 21:00 on November 25, 2024, BEC World Public Company Limited has sent “termination” emails to employees who were assessed as having “failed” to pass the bar. The emails include termination notices, with acknowledgment required by November 26-27, 2024.

The report also stated that management is using performance-based evaluations, examining all 300 employees at every level, from editors to general staff.

Moreover, some news anchors will be relieved of their permanent positions, but they will continue to receive compensation for reading and broadcasting television programs on Channel 3.

As for the compensation Channel 3 will provide for laid-off employees, it will follow the legal requirements as follows:

  • Employees who have worked more than 120 days but not more than one year will receive compensation of no less than 30 days.
  • If it is more than one year but no more than three years, they will receive compensation of no less than 90 days.
  • If it is more than three years but no more than six years, they will receive compensation of no less than 180 days.
  • If it is more than six years but no more than ten years, they will receive compensation of no less than 240 days.
  • If it is more than ten years but no more than twenty years, they will receive compensation of no less than 300 days.
  • If it is more than twenty, they will receive compensation of no less than 400 days.

This policy will take effect after December 31, 2024.
