Nippon Steel Considers a Lawsuit against the U.S. Government

In Monday’s report from Nippon Television, Tadashi Imai, President of Nippon Steel, said that the company is considering a lawsuit against the U.S. government after President Joe Biden shot down its proposal to acquire U.S. Steel.

According to a statement to reporters, Imai accused the U.S. government of not properly handling the reviewing process and the decision over the buyout proposal and demanded a proper review of the proposal.

Imai also added that the company would soon announce its rebuttal to Biden’s decision.

The White House decision to block Nippon Steel $14.9 billion purchase of U.S. Steel was alluded to concerns over national security.
