A key initiative includes establishing a joint “War Room” at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters.

This discussion highlights the collaboration between the Royal Thai Police and True Corporation in establishing a “War Room” at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters. The initiative aims to integrate in-depth data from both parties for analysis to prevent and apprehend criminal networks, particularly dismantling those using Simbox devices and detecting irregular call or SMS patterns. The ultimate goal is to stop call center scams and eliminate fraudulent operations that cause financial losses and harm to the public.

Mr. Manat Manavutiveth, Chief Executive Officer of True Corporation Plc., revealed that “As Thailand’s leading telecom-tech company, we recognize the critical importance of addressing cybercrime, which severely impacts the public. We are committed to taking proactive measures to combat threats from scammers, including call center fraud and fraudulent SMS messages. We have implemented systematic measures to protect our customers and society, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and monitor unusual activities. Our dedicated task force works diligently to prevent fraud. We are now preparing to enhance our cooperation with the Royal Thai Police by establishing a joint War Room, which will combine the expertise and insights of both parties. This partnership aims to enable more efficient and accurate prevention and suppression of cybercrime. By utilizing advanced technology, we aim to dismantle criminal networks and protect the public from falling victim to these scams.”

Since 2024, True Corporation has implemented stricter SIM card registration procedures and utilized AI technology to monitor and filter suspicious activities. The company has also terminated partnerships with suspicious entities and suspended the use of potentially compromised SIM cards. Additionally, a specialized fraud prevention team has been established to tackle these issues.

Additionally, True Corporation has developed the “True CyberSafe” to enhance cybersecurity for its users. The system alerts users to suspicious links and is available to True-dtac and True Online customers without requiring any additional application installation.

Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police have adopted digital and modern technologies for crime prevention and suppression. They recently launched the Cyber Check application, enabling the public to verify suspicious phone numbers and bank account details using data from the online complaint system, which is based on actual reports and legal cases.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing the prevention and suppression of call center scams in Thailand, ensuring public safety and mitigating financial losses caused by such scams. It aligns with the government’s urgent policy to combat public fraud and address technology-related crimes.
