CPALL Denies Talks with Leading Banks to Fund for Seven & i Buyout

According to Thursday’s report, Thailand’s largest retailer CP All Public Company Limited (SET: CPALL) is rumored to potentially participate in a consortium set to acquire management control of Seven & i.

To support the financing of the consortium, Citi and Bank of America have been enlisted. It is speculated that CPALL might secure an equity stake in the management buyout valued at around JPY500 billion (approximately THB 110 billion).

Following the news report, CPALL has disclosed information through the Stock Exchange of Thailand, stating that at present, no action has been taken by the company and there are no changes from the earlier disclosure that the company will pursue investments that benefit shareholders the most.

Nevertheless, CPALL added that should it undertake any action, the company will inform the public via the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s channels accordingly.
