AOT reported a net profit of Baht 5,344.30 million for its FY1Q25 operations ended December 2024, representing an increase by Baht 781.27 million or 17.12% compared to the same period of last year. The increase was mainly attributable to its higher revenue in response to rising frequency of flight entering Thailand a,id booming tourism industry.
The company stated that the air traffic volume of AOT from October 2024 to December 2024 totalling 204,549 flights increased by 14.78% compared to that of the corresponding period of the prior year, comprising 117,333 international flights and 87,216 domestic flights. The total number of passengers was 33.62 million passengers which increased by 16.41% compared to that of the corresponding period of the prior year, comprising 20.85 million international passengers and 12.77 million domestic passengers.
The growth in air traffic volume this quarter was due to the continued recovery of the tourism sector, tourism promotion policies to stimulate the economy by the government. And the supportive factors from the Golden Week of the People’s Republic of China, which resulted in an increase in tourists from both the long-haul market and the short-haul market.
This is in line with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) which estimate that in 2025, the aviation industry will grow at or above 2019 (before the pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)).
For the three-month ended December 31, 2024, AOT generated net profit of Baht 5,344.30 million increased by Baht 781.27 million or 17.12% compared to that of the corresponding period of the prior year.
Revenues from sales or services increased by Baht 1,956.27 million or 12.45% as a result of an increase in aeronautical revenue of Baht 1,727.76 million or 24.41% and non-aeronautical revenue of Baht 228.51 million or 2.65% because of a rise in the number of flights and passengers. Other income increased by Baht 160.37 million or 196.22%.
Total expenses increased by Baht 1,086.70 million or 11.73% mainly due to an increase in employee benefit expenses, depreciation and amortisation expenses, other expenses, outsourcing expenses and repairs and maintenance, while finance costs decreased by Baht 65.04 million or 9.40%. Income tax expenses increased by Baht 266.72 million or 23.23%, which was in line with an increase in operating results.
