Due to the earthquake in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, which measured approximately 8.2 on March 28, 2025, and caused tremors affecting several areas in Thailand, including Bangkok, Origin Property Public Company Limited (SET: ORI) issued the following statement regarding the earthquake and provided an update on the inspection of the company’s and its affiliates’ condominium projects.
After the incident subsided, the Origin management team, led by Mr. Peerapong Jaroon-ek (CEO), Ms. Arada Jaroon-ek (President), and Mr. Piti Jarukamjorn (Co-CEO), conducted an on-site inspection on the night of March 28, 2025. They immediately instructed a team of civil engineers specializing in high-rise buildings to assess all ready-to-move-in condominium projects under the company.
The inspection covered key structural and operational aspects, including the building framework, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as passenger and service elevators, to ensure the safety of all residents.
Additionally, a dedicated support team was deployed to assist residents by coordinating temporary accommodation arrangements and maintaining clear, continuous communication on the inspection progress. This initiative aimed to keep residents well-informed, foster understanding and confidence, and help alleviate concerns following the earthquake.
As of March 30, 2025, the company has completed inspections for 55 out of 83 ready-to-move-in condominium projects. All inspected buildings remain structurally strong and safe, meeting engineering standards, building control regulations, and earthquake prevention requirements. Only minor damages were found in architectural elements, decorative materials, and certain building systems, which will be promptly repaired by the maintenance team to restore full functionality as soon as possible. Currently, residents can return to all buildings except for three projects — Park Origin Thonglor Tower C, Knightsbridge Space Rama 4, and Knightsbridge Space RAMA 9 — which require minor electrical and plumbing system adjustments in certain areas. The company is expediting these repairs, with completion expected within the next 1–2 days.
For the repair and restoration of common areas and condominium units affected by the earthquake, an assessment will be conducted in coordination with the insurance company. Typically, earthquake-related damages are covered under insurance policies, and the process must be carried out through each condominium juristic person in accordance with the insurance company’s procedures. This applies to both common property and individual units. The company is fully prepared to deploy teams of engineers and construction specialists to support and expedite the repair process.
Regarding the inspection of the Park Origin Thonglor project, the building structure has been confirmed as strong and safe by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Department of Public Works, the Watthana District Office, and volunteer engineers from the Council of Engineers. Some condominium units experienced minor architectural and decorative damages, similar to other inspected buildings. Additionally, damage was observed on two sky bridges connecting the buildings, specifically in the architectural cladding, which showed some detachment. However, the structural integrity of the skybridges remains strong and unaffected. Both skybridges were designed and constructed using a cantilever beam structure, where the bridge is anchored to and supported by the building on one side, while the other side serves only as an architectural connection. This design allows for controlled movement within a safe range, as calculated by structural engineering standards. The movement observed during the earthquake was consistent with this safety mechanism, meaning the damage was limited to the architectural elements, while the structural integrity of the skybridges remains intact and secure.
The company is fully committed to ensuring the safety of all residents and has promptly established the “Emergency Customer Support Center, Call 1498” to provide timely assistance and support to all Origin residents across its projects. The goal is to complete safety inspections for all 83 projects within Bangkok and the surrounding areas within the next 1–2 days. As the inspections progress, the company will continue to provide updates and make further announcements through both the company’s communication channels and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
