- Ready to support the grand parade along Ratchadamnoen Road toward Sanam Luang
- Nationwide network solutions now deployed, with a special focus on key travel routes in the Northeast, North, South, and major tourist provinces
True Corporation (SET: TRUE) is reinforcing its 5G, 4G, WiFi, and True Online networks across Thailand to support both local and international travelers during the Maha Songkran Festival 2025. The company anticipates that over one million users will be traveling across provinces during the Thai New Year celebrations.
Based on key insights from mobility data during last year’s Songkran Festival, the Northeastern region (Isan) — particularly Buriram — recorded the highest increase in visitor numbers, followed by Ubon Ratchathani and Sisaket. True has deployed comprehensive solutions and dedicated teams to enhance network capacity in all key locations, including mobile COW (Cell-On-Wheel) units and additional cell sites at Songkran event areas nationwide.
In Bangkok, where the grand Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2025 will be held at Sanam Luang from April 11–15, True has strengthened its network infrastructure to support contemporary cultural performances and concerts by leading artists. The company has also reinforced network coverage at popular Songkran attractions across Bangkok, including Khao San Road, Siam Square, Silom, ICONSIAM, and CentralWorld.
Mr. Prathet Tankuranun, Chief Technology and Information Security Officer of True Corporation Plc., said, “We always prioritize our customers’ mobile experience all-year-round. During Songkran, Thailand’s treasured tradition and New Year celebration, this becomes even more important as people travel nationwide to reunite with family, and our teams place special emphasis on expanding and reinforcing network capacity to meet the rising demand. Our teams thoroughly analyzed last year’s data on user behavior and travel patterns to optimize our network infrastructure for maximum efficiency. This year, we have fully strengthened our 5G, 4G, and WiFi networks nationwide to ensure our customers enjoy the Songkran festivities without interruption.”
Songkran Festival is one of Thailand’s most anticipated long holidays, a time when people travel for leisure and to visit family. True Corporation has fully prepared its communication infrastructure to accommodate the expected surge in mobile usage during this period.
Buriram and the Northeast Remain Top Songkran Destinations
According to mobility data analysis from last year, the Northeast recorded the highest increase in visitor numbers during Songkran, with a 13% rise, followed by a 9% increase in the Northern region. In contrast, the Bangkok Metropolitan Region experienced a 19% decline in mobile users, reflecting the mass migration of people returning to their hometowns.
The top five provinces with the highest user growth were Buriram, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, and Kanchanaburi.
“This data clearly shows significant population movement across provinces for travel and family visits during Songkran — especially from major cities and industrial zones to hometowns in rural areas. The Northeast has become a particularly popular destination, aligning with the region’s large-scale Songkran events, such as the Dok Khun Siang Khaen Festival on Khao Niew Road in Khon Kaen,” Mr. Prathet added.
