Sithidej Mayalarp, Chief Executive Officer of Sky ICT Public Company Limited (SET: SKY), has announced the successful development and implementation of the Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS) across multiple airports under the Department of Airports (DOA), including Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, and Krabi.
This system is also deployed in major Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (SET: AOT) facilities such as Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hat Yai, and Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai, with a total project investment exceeding THB 18 billion.
The newly installed CUPPS encompasses critical functions including Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), Common Use Self Service (CUSS) check-in, Common Use Bag Drop (CUBD), Passenger Verification System (PVS), and Self-Boarding Gates (SBG). These integrated systems enhance the efficiency of passenger management, reduce wait times, and improve security.
Additionally, SKY is advancing Thai airports towards international standards by introducing an automated biometric identification system using facial recognition technology in all six AOT airports. This system ensures accurate, secure, and swift passenger identity verification.
Sithidej further revealed the company’s plans to expand its technological capabilities through the incorporation of AI and Big Data to develop smart airports for efficient resource management.
This initiative aligns with the anticipated growth in Thailand’s aviation sector, expected to exceed 10% in 2025, designated as “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025.”
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reports that in the first quarter of 2025 (January-March), Thailand welcomed over 9.5 million tourists, marking a 1.91% increase from the previous year. AOT forecasts annual passenger numbers could surpass 130 million, indicating a full recovery of the aviation industry.
As a leader in aviation technology in Thailand, SKY ICT is committed to innovating in support of the aviation and tourism industry’s growth. The company continues to propel Thai airports onto the global stage with modernized, safe systems designed to meet the needs of contemporary travelers.
