Road to Trump’s 2024 Victory: Perseverance Amid Lawsuits and Allegations

Republican candidate Donald Trump clinched a remarkable win against Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race that many believe the new candidate endorsed by Joe Biden would put up a better fight than the president himself.

This turns out to be true right to the day that Americans marched to the polling booth as several polls gave Harris a slight edge against Trump. However, the blue wall was unable to withstand the crushing wave and crumble after losing North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

Trump won by a large margin, a comeback worth boasting for the man that not many people other than his supporters believe to be able to return to his stage. However, the road to his achievement does not pave with rose and marble. It all started after his loss in 2020.

In the immediate aftermath of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Donald Trump has gone on a quest to overturn the result of the election. Trump claimed that the election was rigged, citing the problem with mail-in ballots.

Trump has filed over 60 lawsuits against various swing states contesting the process, counting and certifying the votes. Many of the cases were either dropped or dismissed, while some were currently ongoing, only one was ruled in his favor.

The lawsuit is believed to be Trump’s strategic move to delay the calling in the contested states.

On January 6, a group of Trump supporters gathered and later stormed the Capitol Building in an attempt to self-coup d’état by preventing a joint session of Congress from counting the Electoral College votes and formalizing Joe Biden’s victory. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the group was dispersed by the police.

Trump was later sued for inciting the incident. The lawsuit alleges that Trump violated the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act by preventing Congress from carrying out its constitutional duties. In November 2023, District Judge Sarah Wallace ruled that Trump incited an insurrection in an intent to disrupt the electoral certification, this resulted in his second impeachment.

Meanwhile, Trump was also under allegation from former model Stacey Williams for his sexual misconduct during a visit to Trump Tower in early spring of 1993. Trump spokesperson denied the allegation calling it politically motivated.

Williams’ allegation is one among many alleged sexual misconducts that have been thrown at Trump. More than 20 women were claimed to be either sexually assaulted or groped by him in a span of 1980-present.

With all the controversy, lawsuit, and allegation, many have written off Trump as another one-term president, seeing that only his most staward supporter, or a fringe right-wing ideologue would even vote for him.

However, with the win on November 5 election, it will essentially halt the criminal cases brought against him, at least for the four years during his stay in the White House. One more court appearance is scheduled before Trump is due for inauguration on January 20, but legal experts said that was unlikely to go forward.
