Japan’s former prime minister Shinzo Abe was rushed to hospital after suffering from a bleeding wound.
Abe collapsed while delivering a speech in the city of Nara in western Japan, according to the report from public broadcaster NHK on Friday.
The report claimed that a sound like gunshot was heard at the time of his speech. The police have detained a male suspect at the scene.
NHK reporters who were at the scene claimed that they heard two consecutive bangs.
