“Red Wave” Floods US Ballots as Republicans on Pace to Take the House

Millions of Americans cast their votes on November 8, 2022, in the midterm election, a widely expected turn of event that the Republicans could take control of the lower house and possibly the Senates.

The U.S. President approval ratings showed that he was losing popularity in recent months building to the election date. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Monday, his approval fell to 39%.

 

As of 10:06 PM EST, the Republicans have flipped four seats in the House of Representatives for a total of 139 seats, compared to the Democrats’ 80 seats and are unable to flip any. 79 more seats in the House are required for the Red Wave to take control of the majority.

Meanwhile, the Republicans had a slight edge on the Senate with 41 seats to Democrats’ 40 seats as they were racing to reach 50 to take control.
