Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat was in the hot seat after several news outlets claimed that he said the government picked SCB X Public Company Limited (SET: SCB) to develop the super app for the government’s digital handout scheme.
To bolster the economy, the government plans to introduce a 500 billion baht handout scheme in the fourth quarter of this year, a key initiative of the ruling Pheu Thai Party’s platform in the 2023 election.
The Deputy Finance Minister told “Kaohoon Turakij” that he did not disclose any information regarding the timeframe of registration for the handout nor the developer of the app to any media outlets.
He noted that details are being discussed among the cabinet.
