War Tensions Rise as Russia Launches Non-Nuclear Missiles on Ukraine

Tensions in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated significantly with the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) by Russia, marking the first known use of this long-range strategic weapon in the war, according to reports by Ukraine’s air force.

This development follows Ukraine’s recent deployment of U.S. and British missiles against targets within Russia, an action Moscow had cautioned would be considered a major escalation. International security experts posited that a confirmed military deployment of an ICBM is unprecedented.

While ICBMs are typically designed for nuclear strikes, there were no indications that the missile used was nuclear-armed.

Ukrainian reports did not detail the missile’s specifics, type, or warhead nature. On queries regarding the Ukrainian air force statement, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, advised reporters to seek comments from the Russian military.
