Trump’s Day-One Executive Orders Set to Reshape Policies from Immigration to Energy

On the first day of his new term, President-elect Donald Trump plans to issue a series of bold executive orders aimed at drastically altering U.S. policy across several key areas, from border security to energy production and government efficiency.

One of the major initiatives includes closing the border to all illegal immigrants through a presidential proclamation and declaring a national emergency to address border issues. Trump plans to designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations while resurrecting policies like “Remain in Mexico” and “Catch and Release.” The military is expected to be directed to begin construction on a new phase of the border wall.

A significant focus will also be on energy policies, with Trump planning to “fully unleash” Alaskan energy resources and overturn several of President Biden’s policies that allegedly constrained U.S. supply. Moreover, Trump aims to declare a national energy emergency and halt all offshore wind leases, while also taking steps to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.

In a move to transform federal workforce dynamics, Trump intends to return federal employees to in-person work and tighten control over senior government officials with a new merit-based hiring process. Additionally, he plans to suspend security clearances for 51 national security officials who he claims misled the public about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The scope of the orders extends to abolishing all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs within the federal government and establishing a Department of Government Efficiency with a hiring freeze. Trump’s strategy also includes directing all agencies to eliminate federal actions that he perceives as burdening families and consumers with increased costs.

This comprehensive suite of executive orders underscores Trump’s determined approach to reinstating his vision and policies across domestic and foreign fronts, sparking contentious debates on their potential impacts and legality.
