Trump Could Be Running for the ‘Third’ Term

On Thursday, a Republican House member proposed a resolution to amend the United States Constitution to allow President Donald Trump and other future presidents a third term in the White House.

Tennessee Representative Andy Ogles said that Trump has proven to be the only figure capable of restoring America to greatness, and he must be given time and necessary resources to complete such a goal.

He then proposed to amend the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which stated that the President could not be elected to the office more than twice.

Ogles seeks to revise the two-term limit in the Constitution to a three-term limit.

His move came three days after Trump’s second inauguration on Monday, becoming the first president to serve two non-consecutive terms. Two months before Ogles’ proposal, Democrat Representative Dan Goldman introduced a House resolution to reaffirm the two-term limit of the 22nd Amendment.

Trump reportedly mused to House Republicans shortly after his victory in the November election that if he is so good as the President, the House may figure out a way for him to stay in power.
