Prime Minister of Thailand, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, along with several leaders of the coalition party held a public announcement to state the need for resolution on the urgent issues, while postponing the entertainment complex policy.
After today’s cabinet meeting, the Thai PM stated that the coalition party has agreed on the necessity of managing urgent matters, such as the remedial efforts for earthquake victims and the preparation for the U.S. reciprocal tariff, which could affect Thai investors and exporters.
As for the draft for the entertainment complex, the prime minister stated that this matter has not been removed and will be discussed in the next meeting. She also noted that the act has been viewed as an attempt to open casinos, which is not what the government proposed. The act was meant to generate revenue to the nation, however, there are more urgent matters at hand.
She noted that she will take the proposal of public hearing on the Entertainment Complex in consideration.
Paetongtarn also added about the U.S. reciprocal tariff, stating the matter has created concern among Thai investors and exporters. Therefore, the Thai government decided to hold a meeting and prepare a coping measurement as soon as possible. Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, has now been appointed as the leader of a negotiation team.
