Impact Energy Asia Limited (IEA), represented by Chairwoman, Ms. Paradai Suebma, was honored to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Lao PDR (GoL) in relation to the development and implementation of a 1,000MW wind farm in Dak Cheung, Xekong Province (Xekong Wind Farm). The project will be developed by Impact Electrons Siam Limited (IES), an affiliate of IEA, which is at an advanced stage of development of the 600MW Monsoon Wind Farm in the same area and for which it recently signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Vietnam Electricity.
IEA humbly appreciates the support of GoL and for GOL entrusting IEA to develop this further important project. Given the project’s strategic location, wind resource, and the strong support of GoL, IES is confident that the Xekong Wind Farm will be swiftly implemented to supply clean energy to ASEAN. The Xekong Wind Farm, together with the Monsoon project, will have a total capacity of 1,600MW which is one of the world’s largest wind farms. Together they will provide over 90 million tons of carbon saving over the project life, a meaningful contribution to the global fight against climate change as well as a complementary contribution to Lao’s Battery of Asia policy. “We have always known that Lao possessed strong natural resources – this project also shows the carbon credentials of Lao PDR.” Ms. Paradai Suebma stated further, “We are part of the global fight against climate change and the journey to uplift the well-being and happiness of the local communities in which we operate.”
